Your Steps to Study Abroad
The steps are outlined below for current, enrolled undergraduate students to use as a guide throughout the study abroad process. Complete each step before moving on to the next step.
- STEP 1: Create an account and complete a Program Match Form through the Concordia University Irvine Study Abroad Portal with your Eagles credentials, powered by Via.
- Your Study Abroad Portal is where you'll apply, complete forms and pre-departure tasks, and communicate throughout the study abroad process.
- The Program Match Form is your first step toward studying abroad! It helps the Moon International Center get to know you—your interests, goals, and what kind of experience you're looking for. Once you submit it, our team will guide you through your options and the next steps. It’s quick, easy, and gets you started on your study abroad journey!
- STEP 2: Schedule a Study Abroad Interest meeting based on your availability.
You will learn about the study abroad process, requirements, and resources to help you achieve your goals and plans. This is a great time to bring your questions about studying abroad and your current graduation plan.
- STEP 3: Research your program options and choose your study abroad program based on your graduation plan and study abroad goals.
Communicate with your academic advisor about your study abroad plans and courses related to your graduation plan.
- STEP 4: Submit your study abroad program application in your Via Portal to gain study abroad approval from Concordia Irvine.
We recommend submitting your application 2-3 weeks before the study abroad deadline to keep you on track for your study abroad goals.
- STEP 5: Apply directly to your study abroad program and pay the applicable program application fee by March 1 (fall semester abroad); and September 15 (spring semester abroad).
Approved Concordia Programs include ISEP Exchange, Living & Learning International, and Concordia Cambridge.
- STEP 6: Follow all Concordia University Irvine policies and processes for studying abroad, including but not limited to the following:
- Meet the eligibility requirements for Study Abroad established by Concordia University Irvine.
- Be enrolled in the equivalent of 12 or more units towards degree completion as stated in the Academic Catalog.
- Provide proof of registration in the first two weeks of your semester abroad before the disbursement of any funds.
- Students may use all of their Concordia University Irvine financial aid (except work study, department, and athletic scholarships) to fund the program.
- It is the student’s responsibility to notify the Moon International Center of any changes in enrollment status (ie. adding or dropping classes). Note that a change in enrollment may affect financial aid.
- It is the student’s responsibility to obtain all necessary travel documentation including a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date, country-specific visa, airfare, and any travel arrangements.
